If you are reading this post, then you probably are interested in starting your own business or just wandering around, trying to find a smart business idea that you haven’t thought about.
Whatever your first intentions were, it doesn’t matter.
I promise that you will not get bored by reaching the end of this write-up because I will try my best to provide you with some inspiration and maybe make you think in a different direction.
After the success of the article How to Start your Business? we have decided it’s time to write something decent about Business Ideas, so you are actually reading the first article in our collection of business ideas.
What follows next is a long list of suggestions for starting your own business. I want to mention that I have shared some very personal points of view when sharing these ideas for business.
List of Business Ideas for Entrepreneurs (that hopefully will inspire you):
Business Idea No 1: Become a Writer
To be an author, as in every business niche, you should have a lot of enthusiasm, some talent, and a decent amount of goodwill to achieve success. Certainly, some, if not many, will disagree that “some talent” is not enough to become a popular author and make money to live out of it.
I share the opinion that if you really want to achieve something, then you can do it. Indeed, some of us have “the talent,” some not. Still, do you remember “The Tortoise and the Hare,” one of Aesop’s Fables?
If you are good or become good at writing, then you can write for some popular editions, online magazines, writing as a ghost author, etcetera, you name it.
The possibilities are endless.
The benefits of starting a business as a freelance author are that you will not need an initial investment, and you can monetize your talent and knowledge relatively quickly.
Business Idea No 2: Start your own Blog
A Business Idea that is very realistic and achievable, but compared to the first one, this idea might need more time to grow, develop, and make you rich.
There are a few hundred millions of blogs (seriously) on the Web, and to really make money with yours, then you have to be good.
I mean really good.
I know that there are thousands of blog posts that explain about how easy is to start a blog, which is true. Still, to make money for living out your own blog it is another story.
To create your own blog will definitely not cost you a fortune. Still, instead of investing your resources, why don’t you recheck business idea # 1 and prove that you can make money with it first.
As an alternative — you can start your own blog on a free but popular online publishing platform such as Medium or a microblogging platform such as Tumblr.
Then after building name, audience, and confidence — you can make Business Idea No 2 come true.
Business Idea No 3: Create a YouTube Channel
Starting your own business on YouTube is a great opportunity to expose your talent to a huge audience and do something you like for a living.
Many people make money from YouTube.
The number of YouTube visitors is huge, and if you manage to build a channel or channel that people like, then there are good chances for you to become the next YouTube millionaire.
Bear in mind that creating your own channel on YouTube is easy and free, but you will have to put some money (for decent equipment, fr example) at some point if you want your channel to be successful and build a large audience.
At the same time — I know people who started making money out of YouTube by recording videos on their mobile phones initially, so investing money will not be the top priority when you start.
Business Idea No 4: Be an Influencer
You have probably heard that people are making money for a living without investing any money. This is true and absolutely realistic. It’s called Influencer Marketing.
Influencers have authority, credibility (and, respectively, popularity) in a certain niche or niches. Due to these facts, influencers are often successful in making money by using social media marketing.
Many influencers have their YouTube channels and own Blogs and are making money for a living(see Business Ideas No 2,3 and 9).
YouTube is not the only place where influencers make money, though.
The business niche involving influence marketing and affiliate marketing in its different forms is really limitless.
If you manage to create and build a great Social Page in any of the most popular Social Networks, this is almost a guarantee that you have chances for certain success in social media marketing.
Of course — after some time and invested efforts and work, but there are many social spots and places online, you can consider potential gold mines if you are a perfect and appreciated influencer.
Think Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snap, WeHeartIt, Quora, and many more…
Business Idea No 5: Be a Photographer or Videographer
If you are keen on photography or/and videography, then you certainly should consider doing a great business out of your hobby.
Unlike some other start-ups, both videography and photography might require some initial investments in equipment. Sill, if this is your hobby already, then you might not have to think about budgets.
The good news is you can promote your expertise in videography or photography for free on many of the available social platforms and websites such as Giphy, Behance, YouTube, Shutterstock, Pixabay, Unsplash.
Business Idea No 6: Become a Coach or Instructor
I know several people who frequently visit the Gym, and a few of them became personal trainers over 5 years ago. They had the knowledge, the will, and the experience, so as a result, they managed to succeed in this business niche.
If you enjoy any sport or any other sphere that requires pieces of training or coaching and instructors, then think about it.
Are you good at dancing or swimming? Such niches could be a great opportunity for you to start your own business as a private instructor or a trainer.
Business Idea No 7: Sell Something Online, Somewhere
I don’t mean to cell your old bike or FIFA game on eBay, even if there is probably some money in this endeavor too.
I mean that you can cell pretty much everything online — images (see Business Idea Number Five), music, or any other kind of Art.
On websites like Etsy, people sell their crafts, and on marketplaces such as Fiverr, Freelancer, or UpWork, hundreds of thousands of people offer and also sell various services.
In case you are a contractor or handyman, then you can offer specialized services on sites such as Houzz, Thumbtack, Home Advisor, or Porch.
Since I mentioned eBay already, I would like to use the chance and add Amazon too. Both Amazon and eBay (and not only) could be great places for selling goods online. Some of you know what is drop-shipping could probably confirm this statement.
It is good to know that some dropshipping niches can be quite successful. Besides, you might not need great initial investments.
In the future, if your business niche is successful, then you can think about having your own online shop.
Business Idea No 8: Sell your Knowledge
If you check again the Previous Two business ideas, then you will see that I didn’t mention the online courses and the consultants. This is because I wanted these two to come together in the present group of business ideas.
If you have the necessary confidence, expertise, and knowledge in a particular field or niche, then you can commence a private business related to it, but not necessarily with having your hands dirty.
Be smart and innovative and think about websites such as Udemy, Lynda, or Coursera that provide sources and online learning, or places like Amazon where you can publish and sell your own e-book.
You can sell your knowledge to others in many forms but the most popular of them could be a tutor in online courses, author of a useful digital book, or a highly paid private expert or a consultant in a profitable business niche.
To become a consultant it can be necessary to follow particular steps, however, I think that this interesting article will be useful for you to identify in detail if such a business goal would be suitable for you.
Business Idea No 9: Create your own Podcast
Most of you certainly know that podcasting is a free service that allows Web users to pull audio files from podcasting sites. Then same users can listen to the audio files on their mobile devices or PC.
The term Podcasting comes from a combination of the words iPod and broadcasting. Podcasts are usually audio files but can also be videos.
In case you are not just a good talker, but an influencer (see Business Idea No 4) and can entertain people for hours, then you could think about making podcasting your main business niche.
In general, starting such a business it’s not difficult and doesn’t require huge investments (you will have to make some though).
Apart from the podcasts, the audiobooks and live radio streams are also a good option to make money online.
The Web is full of resources and tutorials for how to start your podcast from zero and there are many places where you can create, store and distribute your own podcasts for free.
Business Idea No 10: Think Out of The Box
You might wonder what the heck is this strange business idea and you will be right.
In fact, the list of unusual business ideas (or “business ideas out of the box”) is long enough, so I’m planning to dedicate them to a separate blog post, sometime in the future.
In the meanwhile, if you want to get inspiration for thousands of potential business opportunities for private business, you can have a look at the Google My Business. I’m sure that the list of business categories you will find there can help you with more ideas.
As an alternative, you can use Yelp.
To End Things Off
Having and running your own business it’s a responsible and challenging task but really a great way to make money. Certainly finding a suitable niche for your business is one of the most important steps in the whole journey to prosperity and success.
I hope the suggested here realistic and achievable ideas will be useful for you in your efforts to start your very own and successful business for a living.
